Give us the low-down on your hustle?
My hustle is all about finding ways of inspiring people through music & vivid storytelling.
What inspires your hustle?
My life, my country (or in my case, my countries) & my people. My goal is for any young African kid out there to find a means of hope through the stories I tell in my songs. I sing for them, because I am them.
Yo’ biggest lesson so far?
My biggest lesson has to be “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready”. I live by these words now. Just know with every move I make, I’ve already thought about how I’m going to make my next five moves.
What’s your goal? Like, when will you have that “momma I made it” moment?
The day I move my mama out of the hood is the day I will scream Mama I Made It. That’s when those words will really mean something to her. Because not only will my life be changed, her life will be changed too. I can’t wait until that day.
What tips would you give the youngins out there tryna make it?
Be bold. Be brave. Be humble. Everything else shall follow you all the days of your life.
Why the need for a side hustle?
The need for me to have a side hustle comes from my love for spoken word. Because it’s such a risky hobby, one can’t entirely go into it without a standard pay check. Doing it on the side allows my love and passion to not stem from a place of hunger or desperation, but rather of fun and excitement, while growing my craft and financing it myself.
What’s your current 9-5?
My current 9-5 is a fashion fixer/salesperson at The FIX.
‘Cos my craft revolves around the Internet, this being videos uploaded on most social networks, I’m able to reach out to my fans wherever convenient, either on my taxi ride to work or during my lunch break. These videos are usually recorded on my days off or on days where my shift starts a bit later. So my time is well managed between my 9-5 & my side hustle.
Who inspires you?
My inspiration ranges from most influencers who’ve been able to turn their side hustle into their daily bread giving source. These are the likes of Kamo Modisakeng & a poet from my hometown Emmah Mabye.
Tips for peeps tryna establish a side hustle?
Don’t lose heart. It’s a crazy feeling having to drag your body out of tired state just to participate in what feeds your soul, but it’ll definitely be worth it in the end.
