You might have seen Tebogo Ribane making the rounds on the ‘gram hosting the latest episode of our Culture Conversation series. 🎤
But, we wanted to get the inside scoop on what inspires Tebogo to ooze her next level creativity. 🙌
We asked her few Qs and this is what she had to say!
What role does fashion, music & dance play in your life? 🎼
A major role cause it is what I do for a living, all of them in one creates Tebogo Ribane.
Often you are the inspiration but, where do you draw inspiration from?
I get a lot of my inspiration from my siblings Manthe Ribane and Kokona Ribane known as kaykay. The ability to want to change the narrative of the way we view Art.
How do you keep your work fresh & relevant for the demanding culture consumer?
One thing we do to keep our work fresh is to be the best of ourselves and enjoy creating work that we feel will be timeless.
Fashion trends come & go so if you had to share one styling tip, what would that be? 👗
Allow yourself to ‘lose yourself to find yourself in fashion’. I mean to allow yourself to make mistakes that you feel it’s part of growing up.
You’ve spoken about how your work as Dear Ribane serves as a message to yourself & your parents? What’s the essence of this message? 💙
Dear Ribane is a letter we keep writing to our late parent thanking them for the vivid memories that were instilled in us, teaching us to never give up what we believe in.
In a time of selfies, instant gratification & cyber bullying, what would your advice to the young ‘uns be? 🤳
That it’s time for us to work together to change the narrative or perception of our youth. Art heals and we can only allow it to change our lives, speak your truth through it and see the changes it will bring in next generations movements.
